Chapter of VSNA

Follow us:                                    VSNA CONVENTION

As mentioned in our home page we are group of people who believes in veerashaiva principles. To preserve our great culture, on September 19th 2004, Veerashaiva Samaja of New England(VSNE) an affiliate of VSNA was established by Veerashaiva scholar Mr.Guruswamy Ayya. VSNE is non-profit organization.
We conduct activities to create group dynamics among families to learn and adopt veerashaiva way of life so that we gradually establish the Veerashaiva Community ( Samaja) in North America. Chapters are the pillars of VSNA. They are the service stations where the families receive needed services. Members will establish veerashaiva life style through a system of Mission, Message, Messenger and Mentor.

Mission is to establish the Veerashaiva Samaja around New England.
Message is religion encompassing knowledge and practice.
Messenger is any of us who can help others towards veerashaiva life style.
Mentor is a Swamiji or a Scholar who provides us spirituality.

Conduct periodical meetings of veerashaiva families It is well to arrange meeting dates on the birth days of veerashaiva saints. Conduct discussion of vachanas and other religious writings. Anubhava Mantapa style deliberations will help self development . Invite out of town VSNA members to enhance experience. Teach linga puje, meditation and yoga to member families Encourage members to mutually teach and learn. Make puja materials available to families Coordinate with central VSNA. Maintain a library and distribute books, audio/video cassettes/disks, puja material. Conduct periodical seminars and workshops on religion and family concerns. Many VSNA members are capable of helping in this regard. Seminars on religion can be conducted by scholars. However, workshops on family concerns need to be conducted by VSNA members who have raised family in North America. Organize on demand service to families regarding veerashaiva rituals: Namakarana, Linga Dharana, wedding, lingaikya ceremony. Coordinate with central VSNA and also encourage local members to learn and perform rituals. Assist parents to enable them to impart religion to children at home. Early inculcation of religion to children is best done by parents at home. VSNA has produced tools and literature to do this. Arrange picnics and retreats to encourage group cohesion Youth picnics and trips are particularly helpful towards formation of youth peer groups.

Around 50 families (150 Members) registered to VSNE and it is growing every week. Apart from having periodic local meetings all the members from CT, NH,MA, RI, ME and VT will meet every quarter to celebrate major festivals of Lingayath such as Shivarathri, Basava Jayanthi etc.
To facilitate activities of VSNE, among our members executive committee has been established. If you have any questions, concerns, would like to know more about lingayathism please contact any of us.
